About Summitstone

Summitstone exists to help people lead well without losing themselves in the process.

In demanding professions—education, ministry, the military, and nonprofit leadership—burnout is often treated as a personal failure rather than a predictable outcome of sustained pressure. Summitstone challenges that narrative. We focus on building leaders who are resilient, grounded, and capable of sustained service over the long haul.

Our work is built on five core pillars: Strength, Vision, Integrity, Communication, and Action. Through coaching, workshops, and structured leadership development, Summitstone equips individuals and institutions with practical tools to prevent burnout, clarify purpose, and lead with steadiness in complex environments.

Summitstone is not about hustle or hype. It is about durable leadership—formed slowly, tested honestly, and sustained intentionally.

About Michael Ake

I’m Michael Ake—an educator, musician, leadership coach, and soldier.

For over two decades, I’ve worked in education and leadership development, serving as a band director, department chair, mentor, and advisor to young leaders. Alongside my work in schools, I serve in the State Guard, where leadership under pressure is not theoretical—it’s required.

Like many leaders, I’ve experienced seasons of exhaustion, overload, and the quiet erosion that comes from carrying responsibility for others year after year. Summitstone grew out of that lived experience, paired with formal study in leadership, resilience, and organizational culture.

I believe leadership is not about position or charisma. It’s about stewardship—of people, of mission, and of oneself. My work with Summitstone is focused on helping leaders develop clarity, endurance, and integrity so they can serve well, lead wisely, and remain whole.

Michael lives, works and blogs from Cleveland, Tennessee and is available to travel for speaking engagements.
